Dyna BU30 light problem
« em: 05 de Janeiro de 2006, 05:39 »

Hi,

A friend that has a Dyna BU30 is having a problem with his lights.

The side lights work fine but when he switches on the dipped headlights the full beams switch on also.

On the Dyna the two lights on each side are the dipped headlights and the two in the centre are the full beams.

I know there is two relays for each dipped headlight because you can hear them clicking when you switch on the lights but for the full beams there is no clicking sound on a Dyna that is working perfect.

I was thinking it might be a problem with the dimmer switch itself.

Any help would be great.

Thanks:[fixe] :[fixe]

Have you tried to see the wires inside the dashboard?
You might find some wire conected to another one.
Or maybe the switch is defective and turn on both lamps.
Or you will find some short circuit...
Sorry if it is not a big help...

Hi Santos Silva,

Thanks for replying. Well I didn't see the truck yet.
He thinks there is another relay for the full beam lights but I don't think so. You can see them clearly under the dash and the loom goes from the lights into the cab, to the two relays and voltage regulator and then under the steering column to the switch.

I will see if we can try one of our relays and switch in the truck to see if that will fix the problem. I don't think any wires are touching each other.

Could be a broken part in the switch.

Thanks,

That BU30 your friend has, has it been restored? Did he buy it recently?

I thin that the problem is or in switch or the relay. Confirm if the earth wire as a good contact!

Hi,

Rui, no its not restored but it is in very good condition. It is the red one I sent you a picture of.

nunoturbo, I was thinking that myself. I will tell him tonight to check his earth and clean it it it is corroded.

Would you know if there is a seperate relay somewhere that controls the full beam lights? The owners seems to think so but you can hear the two relays under the dash when you flash the lights so I assume these are the only relays for the lights.

Thank for you help:[fixe]
